Long Awaited Splash Pad Open In Point Edward

The new splash pad and pavilion at Point Edward's Waterfront Park is open to the public.

The water feature took a little longer than expected, after an archeological dig and the discovery of a killdeer's nest in May halted construction for a few weeks.

The village's chief administrative officer, Jim Burns, says there's still some finishing touches to be completed, including laying sod and work to the field house.

"We've had a few delays and the public has been very patient with us to make sure we get this project done right," says Burns. "We've done everything we can to get the project to point where can people can use it and enjoy it for the rest of the summer."

The splash pad will operate daily from 10am until 8pm for the time being and an official grand opening will be held in the spring.

The village received $100,000 in federal funding from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program to help pay for the project.
