First Time Rider Orientation Day

The Lambton Kent and St. Clair Catholic District School Boards are once again offering their "First Time Rider Orientation Day."

It's a chance for parents and first-time school bus riders from JK to Grade 1 to learn the importance of school bus safety.

An orientation day will be held at Great Lakes Secondary School in Sarnia and Ursuline College in Chatham on Saturday, August 19 from 9am until 11:30am.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the free session.

Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CLASS) General Manager Kent Orr says it helps ease any anxiety for kids and their parents when it comes to staying safe.

Safety trainers will talk to the young ones about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely and how to evacuate the bus in case of an emergency.

The sessions begin at 9am and will last about half an hour.
