Mallroad Library Closed After Crash

Two of Sarnia's three library branches are now closed.

Mallroad Library has been shut down after a vehicle slammed into the front window Tuesday morning.

Sarnia police Detective Constable Sam Sulaiman says it happened around 9:30am, just as the library was opening.

"An elderly female was pulling into a parking spot in the 1300 block of Lambton Mall Rd. near the library when the driver accelerated causing the vehicle to collide with the concrete wall and window of the library," says Sulaiman.

He says no injuries were reported and no charges will be laid.

The extent of damage to the Lambton Mall Rd. site is unknown at this time.

The main library branch downtown has been closed since a basement electrical fire July 13 and isn't scheduled to reopen until August 21.

The County of Lambton says patrons who frequent the Mallroad branch are encouraged to visit the Bright's Grove, Point Edward, Mandaumin and Corunna branches.

Due dates for resources borrowed from Mallroad are being extended until next Tuesday, August 22.
