GOJHL Releases 2017-2018 Schedule

The Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League schedule has been released for the upcoming season.

The Sarnia Legionnaires kick off preseason play August 24 against Strathroy at Clearwater Arena. They'll visit London the following night.

The regular season gets underway with the showcase in Brantford September 8.

The Legionnaires will face Niagara Falls on September 9, and Fort Erie on September 10.

They host Komoka in their home opener Thursday, September 14.

Last season, the Legionnaires finished 5th in the Western Conference standings with a record of 22-22-0-6 and 50 points. They were eliminated from the playoffs by the Leamington Flyers in six games.

Last year's leading scorer was Alec DeKoning with 44 points. The only player too old to return for the coming season is defenceman and captain Brett Storr, who finished the 2016-2017 campaign with 30 points. Fellow rearguard Sam McCormack was named captain back in April.

Sarnia has already recruited a number of players for the coming year, including defenceman Tyler Beneteau, and forwards Aaron Jamieson and Greg Hay.

For the first time in decades, there will only be one Lambton county team in the Jr. B circuit. The Lambton Shores Predators will play their first season as the Komoka Kings. The Preds originally moved to Lambton Shores in 2008 after 40 years in Petrolia.
