Local Golfers At Canadian Open

Round one of the RBC Canadian Open tees off from Glen Abbey Golf Course Thursday morning.

Mike Weir has a relatively early start, his group is scheduled to tee off at 8:20am. Matt Hill, who's also from Bright's Grove, has a 2:05pm tee off.

There are 17 Canadians in the field of 156 golfers, including five who are currently ranked in the top 40. World number one Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, two time Masters champ Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk and defending champ Jhonatta Vegas.

It's the third straight year the Canadian Open has been held at Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville.

A Canadian hasn't won the tournament since Pat Fletcher in 1954. There has been a couple close calls, with David Hearn finishing third last year and Mike Weir finishing second back in 2004.

Matt Hill, NCAA Division One Championship in 2009, finished 75th in 2012.
