Ontario's Ministry of Transportation has made a deal with a Scarborough company to recover repair costs after the Indian Rd. Hwy. 402 overpass was damaged in 2015.
Automatic Coating Limited pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle carrying an over-height load and was fined $2,000 in provincial offences court in April.
On November 23, 2015, an Imperial Oil heat exchanger being hauled on a flatbed trailer failed to clear the overpass, causing $3-million in damage.
MTO West Region Communications Coordinator Liane Fisher says under the Highway Traffic Act, owner/operators of vehicles involved in incidents on provincial highways for which they are found liable, are responsible to compensate the ministry for damages to highway infrastructure.
Fisher says due to confidentiality requirements, the ministry can not provide details of the settlement.
