Sarnia firefighters were called late Wednesday afternoon to put out a sizable dumpster fire off Exmouth St.
Captain Chris Palmer says they responded just before 4pm to the area behind 840 Trillium Park.
"We had a call for a dumpster fire and on arrival we had a wooded compound that was full of furniture and heavily involved, as well as a small dumpster beside it," says Palmer.
He says there were no injuries.
A backhoe was used to get rid of some of the debris inside to make sure the fire was out.
The blaze blackened a section of the Hwy. 402 sound barrier.
The cause wasn't immediately known.
With the fire call and the westbound 402 closed Wednesday afternoon due to a fatal crash involving three transport trucks, traffic on Exmouth St. was very heavy.
Motorists were being advised to avoid the area if possible.
