New Initiative Launched To Promote Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs, either launching their business or looking to take it to the next level, are being given the opportunity to win a storefront space -- free for a year.

The Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation has launched the new initiative hoping to help kick start a greater entrepreneurial culture in the region.

Community Economic Development Officer Tracy Ranick says two spaces will be offered, one in Sarnia and the other in the Forest/Lambton Shores area.

"Our whole mandate is to create new prosperity in the county," says Ranick. "We offer business counselling and have helped hundreds of business get off the ground to start, be successful and expand. We also offer financing. What we're really hoping this will do is launch a new enthusiasm for being an entrepreneur."

She says interested applicants are invited to a question and answer event tonight.

"We will be at the Forest Golf and Curling Club at 5:30pm. We will be happy to offer suggestions on how people can put together a nice application," says Ranick.

Another question and answer event will be held Thursday, July 25, at the Sarnia-Lambton Business Development Corporation on Durand St. at 5:30pm.

She says more information and applications are available at www.winlambton.com.

The deadline to apply is Friday, August 4 at 5pm.
