Plympton-Wyoming Fire Chief To Return To Work Immediately

Plympton-Wyoming's fire chief will return to work immediately.

Steve Clemens was placed on indefinite leave pending results of an internal investigation.

Chief Administrative Officer Carolyn Tripp says an independent third party investigation at the Wyoming Fire Hall has been completed and council reviewed all the evidence and information Friday afternoon.  She says the matter does not require further review and is closed.

"Council wanted to reiterate that they have full and complete confidence in the work of our fire chief," says Tripp.

Word of the internal investigation came after firefighters claimed a video camera had been discovered in the radio dispatch room of the fire hall.

"The webcam, attached to a [desktop] computer, was removed prior to the investigation. The computer remains, but the camera was removed," says Tripp.

She says the camera was in a shared workplace and being used for business purposes.

Tripp says further details of the investigation must be kept confidential due to privacy issues.

Clemens became director of Fire and Emergency Services/fire chief on January 3 after having served as executive director of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association.
