Report Of Missing Swimmer A False Alarm

There was a lot of activity on the St. Clair River in Corunna Wednesday afternoon.

Lambton OPP received a call around 4pm from a concerned citizen on shore about a swimmer possibly in distress.

The OPP, the Canadian and US Coast Guard and the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office conducted an extensive search of the river, just north of Corunna, but the male swimmer was not located.

Shortly after 5:30pm, OPP received a call about a suspicious person in the town of Corunna.  A 58-year-old Point Edward man was found safe and sound, and was determined to be the swimmer thought to be in distress.

The OPP say no medical attention was required or requested.
