Short-Lived Storm Causes Damage In Arkona (GALLERY)

Some of the heaviest damage in Saturday’s stormy weather was at Rock Glen Family Resort near Arkona.

Kristy Thompson, who was working at the resort, says the storm came up fast and ended just as quickly.

“All of a sudden our doors to our store just blew open and I knew right then something was a little off,” says Thompson. “I jumped up to close them and staff and I saw trees falling over, it was really hard to see with the rain and there was about golf ball sized hail, basically as soon as you realized what was going on, it was over.”

Jordan Sisler is co-owner of Sisler Electric. He says they responded to calls of trees down over power lines and says the heaviest damage occurred from the Rock Glen Motel to about a mile north of Arkona.

“There was branches everywhere, trees down, lines down, it was pretty bad,” says Sisler. “Just outside of town there was a solar panel, a ground mounted solar panel that was flipped over and a shed that took some damage and blew over.”

Fortunately there are no reports of injuries.
