Cameras To Be Installed At Canatara Park

Three surveillance cameras are being installed in Canatara Park, thanks in part to a donation from Unifor Local 672 and Unifor Local 848.

Parks and Rec Director Rob Harwood says they've given $4,500 toward the equipment, which he says is badly needed.

A 22-year-old Sarnia man was arrested after an SUV or off-road vehicle damaged both the main field and the hills near the beach parking overnight Friday, April 7.

"Certainly, we're hoping the cameras will be a deterrent," says Harwood. "Obviously, we would like everyone to understand that it something that outrages the community and is not appreciated. We hope it doesn't happen but, if it does, we'll have some camera protection to help us find the perpetrators."

It's hoped the cameras will be installed sometime in June.
