We're enjoying the first summer-like weather of the year but it will be short-lived.
The temperature at Sarnia's Chris Hadfield Airport hit 30 C (86 F) at 3pm Wednesday with a humidex of 34 C. (93 F) Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimbell says humidex values will be in the low 30's again Thursday before temperatures cool considerably Friday.
"We have a cold front coming through that will bring temperatures back down below normal," says Kimbell. "A high of 16 C (61 F) on Friday which is definitely below normal."
Thunderstorms are possible Thursday in advance of the cold front but, as of Wednesday, forecasters expected only a marginal risk of any becoming severe.
The forecast for the Victoria Day weekend calls for seasonal temperatures around 20 C (68 F) Saturday and holiday Monday with warmer temperatures Sunday when there's the greatest risk of rain at 60%.
