Communities in Bloom Sells Out Sarnia Lottery

Sarnia's Communities in Bloom is celebrating another successful lottery.

For another year, Communities in Bloom Sarnia has sold out its popular Backyard Makeover Lottery fundraiser, with over 2500 tickets sold.  Proceeds from this year's lottery will replace the signage at Centennial Park, as well as commission artist Dave Beatty to create a work of art.  Signage will also be replaced at Veteran's Park as part of the partnership between CIB Sarnia and the Bluewaterland Rotarians that is celebrating Canada's 150th birthday.

The draw took place on Mother's Day at DeGroot's Nurseries, currently celebrating its 60th anniversary.  Owner John DeGroot has been a longtime partner with CIB, along with the Rotarians, Dowler Karn, Praills and MacKellar's Flowers.

The project funded by last year's sold-out lottery was the replacement of the signage at Germain Park, according to Ann Marie Gillis, chairperson of CIB Sarnia.

The winner of the $5000 grand prize, a backyard makeover, is Tracy Tulloch of Corunna.  A barbeque grill, patio furniture and a gift card from MacKellar's were also offered as prizes.
