United Way Campaign Chair Announced

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton has a new campaign chair for the first time since 2014.

Vicky Ducharme will head the 2017 campaign, that begins with the annual Day of Caring in September.

Ducharme is recently retired after spending 17 years as the executive director of the Sarnia-Lambton Workforce Development Board.

Executive Director Dave Brown says Ducharme brings a lot to the table.

"Vicky has not only a lot of contacts in our community but a lot of knowledge of our community and I know that will play a vital role in our success this year," says Brown.

He says they had to look for a replacement for Richard Kelch who successfully served as campaign chair for the past three years.

Last year's fundraising effort raised over $2-million for more than 35 local programs and services.

The board of directors expects to announce the 2017 goal this summer.
