Douglas Line Reconstruction Underway

A noticeable road closure started Tuesday in Plympton-Wyoming.

Douglas Line will be shutdown between Brush Rd. and Forest Rd. until June 5.

Last year, Suncor Energy paid to have a single layer of asphalt put down after the road surface was torn up by trucks hauling heavy turbine parts to the Cedar Point wind project.

Municipal Public Works Director Adam Sobanski says they're beginning structural repairs now at a cost of about $365,000.

"This year we are going to be pulverizing the existing layer of asphalt, digging out any soft spots, and then rebuilding a new layer on top," says Sobanski.

Because Douglas Line is heavily used by commuters heading to Forest and Grand Bend, Plympton-Wyoming asked Lambton Shores to help pay for the cost of repairs but Lambton Shores said no.
