Divers Join Search for Missing Sarnia Man

An American dive team is joining the search for a missing Sarnia man.

The team from the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department was expected Saturday to join Sarnia Police and the Ontario Provincial Police in the search for 69-year-old Edward Alway, missing since Monday.

Wayne Brusate, chief of the St. Clair County dive team, told the Port Huron Times-Herald that they did some sonar work on the Canadian side of the St. Clair River Saturday morning following a routine training exercise.  After a target was found, Canadian authorities asked the St. Clair team to assist.

Alway was reported missing by his family Monday, according to Sarnia Police.   His red pickup truck was discovered in a parking lot just north of the water treatment plant at the mouth of the river.

Police and family are concerned for his safety.  He is described as a white male, five-foot-seven with a thin build and short grey hair.

Anyone with information should call Sarnia Police at (519) 344-8861, ext. 6137.
