Sarnia police have arrested a suspect in connection with the vandalism at Canatara Park almost two weeks ago.
It's believed an SUV or off-road vehicle damaged both the main field and the hills near the beach parking overnight Friday, April 7.
Constable John Sottosanti says a 22-year-old Sarnia man is charged.
"He was taken into custody [Thursday] and was charged with mischief over $5,000. He's now awaiting a court date for May 30, 2017 at 9:30am," says Sottosanti.
"The Sarnia police would like to thank the community for their patience and assistance in this matter and due to your help are able to bring this very upsetting issue to a conclusion."
He says police do not have any information at this time to indicate the suspect is the same person responsible for damage at Mike Weir Park in Bright's Grove.
