Owners Say Sting Staying Put

The owners of the Sarnia Sting say the OHL team is not moving any time soon.

Owner and Head Coach Derian Hatcher and Co-Owner Dave Legwand joined Tony Frangis CHOK's Talk Show Thursday to discuss the future of the team.

Hatcher says the long term plan for the team is to stay in Sarnia and any rumours of them leaving are just that, rumours.

"I laugh at it, I kind of laughed at it all year and even last year a little bit when you hear these rumours," says Hatcher.

"Dave and I made a big commitment here, I moved my family from Philadelphia, I had a job in Philadelphia and it just so happens I live a half hour from here so it was a perfect opportunity and I can tell you one thing that Dave and I have never talked about, and that's moving the team."

The transfer of ownership of the Sarnia Sting to the former NHL'ers was made official in March 2015.

No purchase price was ever disclosed.
