Fleeing Car Involved In Two Sarnia Crashes

Sarnia police are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash and a subsequent collision at noon on Tuesday.

Police broke off their pursuit, in the interest of public safety, of a silver Pontiac Grand Prix spotted with improper plates in the area of Christina St. N and Charlesworth Ave.

They say, shortly after, the suspect car hit a vehicle at Michigan Ave. and Matthews Ave., but left the scene and continued driving south through Lakeview Cemetery where witnesses saw three young females get out.

Police say the driver then drove out of the cemetery and continued at a high rate of speed on Colborne Rd. before losing control near Capel St. and hitting a hydro pole and a tree.

The driver was last seen running toward the area of Willowdale Cres.

He's described as a young white male, wearing beige pants and a dark jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Jim Maginn of the Sarnia Police Traffic Unit at 519-344-8861 ext. 6152, or Lambton County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The other driver involved in the initial crash was not injured.
