Colt Drum Line Needs New Home

An effort has been launched to resurrect the Colts Drum Line.

The program, which was founded in 2008 as an extracurricular for the St. Clair Secondary School Music Department, was cut when the school amalgamated with SCITS last year.

Director Shawn Bryan says they need help to find a permanent place to both store their equipment and hold weekly rehearsals.

"Our gear needs a room that's 10 ft x10 ft," says Bryan. "Our rehearsal facility needs to be a bit larger just so we can move around and the colour guard needs about a 10 ft ceiling so they can toss their implements."

Sarnia's Sea Cadets are temporarily storing the group's gear until it finds a new home.

Bryan says the membership dropped to six students, from 12, when it was announced the group was no longer part of the new Great Lakes high school's programming.

But, since they're no longer affiliated with the high school, Bryan says students from across Sarnia-Lambton will now be invited to join.

The drum line has developed quite a high profile in the community over the years, participating in Sarnia's annual Santa Claus parade and Canada Day celebrations.

Further information is posted on the Colts Drum Line Facebook page.

Anyone with space available for the group to practice or store their equipment in can contact Shawn Bryan at 226-886-0712.
