Restoration Of Keelan's Plaza Property Planned

A $1.5-million restoration is planned at the property known as Keelan's Plaza at the corner of Christina St. and Maxwell St.

Property owner Lou Longo says storefronts are going to get a major facelift in a two year project beginning this summer.

"We're going to be changing the flavour of the property into more of an office type-slash-medical type users," says Longo. "We're hoping to attract a pharmacy, physiotherapy people, medical doctors, that kind of stuff. We've got about 30,000 sq ft on the south end that used to be occupied by Habitat for Humanity so we're looking at changing that over in the next two years."

Longo feels the time is right for the project.

"There are a lot of vacancies in town, but the space isn't in the right location where people want to go," he says. "We feel that this being on a bus route, and relatively close to the hospital, that's why we're getting the calls."

Longo says Rack and Roll Billiards will stay where it is and facade improvements at the plaza will begin this summer.
