Sarnia-Lambton Energy Symposium Held Thursday

The second annual Sarnia-Lambton Energy Symposium was held throughout the day Thursday.

Over 100 people are attending the full-day event at the Lambton College Event Centre, which is designed to showcase energy-related technologies and initiatives to industry, government and academic guests from across the country.

Lambton College's Applied Research and Innovation Department Dean Mehdi Sheikhzadeh says their goal is to promote and build partnerships between the private and public sectors and increase awareness about advancements and challenges in the energy sector.

"That's a big part. Celebration of the achievements and getting people excited," says Sheikhzadeh. "Sometime we don't distribute our success very well. So these type of events are helping to distribute the news and share the knowledge that we have gained and at the same time, learn from each other. The ultimate goal is, how can we work together to help each other and also benefit not only ourselves, but actually our community and province."

Presentations and panel discussions focusing on renewable energy, energy storage, micro-grid technologies and cap and trade were planned.

Participants were also being invited to tour energy-focused laboratories and projects at Lambton College.

Sarnia-Lambton Economic Development, Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park and Bluewater Power partnered with Lambton College to put on the event.
