Animal Cruelty Investigation Underway In Dawn-Euphemia

An investigation by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) is underway after the discovery of maltreated livestock at a property in Dawn-Euphemia Township.

The Sarnia and District Humane Society says over 60 livestock, all suffering from severe neglect and cruelty, were immediately removed. Many other livestock were found dead on the property.

A warrant was executed Wednesday, March 22 with the help of Lambton OPP.

The society says the local farm and veterinarian community played a key role in helping its agents with transportation and shelter for the animals still alive.

Humane Society Executive Director Donna Pyette says the investigation will have a serious impact on the Sarnia shelter, running into the thousands of dollars.

No further details were available as the investigation continues.
