UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Clinton Fire

Ontario Provincial Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with a fire in Clinton this weekend.

The fire destroyed a huge portion of the Made in Huron block Saturday morning, at the corner of Hwys 8 and 4.

Investigators from the Huron County OPP, West Region Criminal Operations, and OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) had suspected that the fire was set on purpose, and as a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old man has been charged with arson.

Ronald Davis of Central Huron has been charged with arson - disregard for human life, and fail to comply with probation order under the Criminal Code.  He was set for a bail hearing on Sunday.

Central Huron Fire says the building is due to be knocked down on Monday and there is no estimate of damage yet.

Hwy 4 between Huron St and Rattenbury St will remain closed until at least Tuesday, as there have been concerns that the remains of the building may fall down.

A fire in the same building late last August was deemed suspicious and the building has been empty since then.

The OPP are asking that any person that may have been in the area in the early morning hours of Saturday or that may have any information regarding this incident to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 524-8314.
