Community Safety Zone Set Up Around Point Edward School

The speed limit has been lowered from 50 km/h to 40 km/h on the four roads bordering Bridgeview Public School in Point Edward.

Village CAO Jim Burns says they set up a community safety zone around the school to make sure vehicles slow down and drivers are aware of pedestrian traffic.

Burns says parents have expressed concern.

"There's a lot of vehicles in the area coming and going throughout the day and we just felt that this was something to bring some awareness to people driving through the area to slow down and keep people safe," says Burns.

Burns says stop signs have also been added at the intersection of Charles St. and Albert St.

He says council approved the safety improvements back in January.
