Long Time Sarnia Business Closing

A long time Sarnia business owner is thanking the public for its support for almost four decades.

St. Clair Audio Video owner Grev Martin says they're closing their doors April 30 after 37 years in business.

"Independents basically did well in the 70s and 80s, and then as big box stores started to arrive, that eroded profit margins and customer base," he says. "We adapted over the years to stay competitive, but I missed Freedom 55, I missed Freedom 65, and I didn't want to miss Freedom 70. My lease expires in a couple of months time and I couldn't find a buyer so that played a part in my decision as well."

St. Clair Audio Video opened on Front St. before moving to Confederation St. in 1992 and then relocating to their current London Rd. store in 2004.

Martin thanks the community for supporting his independent business for almost four decades, and salutes his staff over the years including the six on the payroll now.
