Sarnia-Lambton Searches For New Economic Partnership GM

After a career spanning over 30 years in economic development, George Mallay plans to retire.

As Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership general manager for over 20 years, Mallay led the initiative to establish the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park off Modeland Rd.

Mayor Mike Bradley, who just recently stepped down as chair of the Economic Partnership Board, says many initiatives that the city and county have today, were because of Mallay.

"He was the driving force with the political community on the research park, he's the one that was championing biofuels and alternative fuels when no one else was doing that across this country," says Bradley. "He's made a tremendous contribution to Sarnia-Lambton and he does it in his own quiet way."

Bradley says an ad has been posted to fill the position, which Mallay will leave at the end of June.

He says it's hoped someone is hired soon to work with Mallay through that transition.
