'Shave For The Brave' Raises Thousands For Pediatric Cancer Research

It was a very successful "Shave For the Brave" event at Lambton Mall Sunday. Some 20 Sarnia first responders had their heads shaved to raise money for pediatric cancer research. $15,267 was collected for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sarnia police Constable Jordan Laird says the event was inspired by the “Love for Lucien” campaign.

“Lucien is a five-year-old boy battling brain cancer — he’s actually a classmate of my son,” says Laird. “I looked into it a bit more and there are 14 other kids between the ages of three months and 19 years of age battling some form of cancer in Sarnia alone. That’s a substantial number, so we wanted to give the community an opportunity to reach out to all of them, show moral and financial support.”
