National Travel Writer Impressed By Sarnia's Downtown

Mayor Mike Bradley is pleased a national freelance travel writer includes Sarnia on his list of six places to visit for Canada's 150th anniversary this year.

Bradley says it's gratifying the revival of the downtown is mentioned.

"Jim Byers is a travel writer and went across the country for Postmedia and they picked six places to go for the 150th anniversary of Canada this year," says Bradley. "We're the only city in Ontario that was selected. What I found really rewarding about this story was that it focused on the different and diverse nature of downtown Sarnia."

The writer specifically mentions the Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery, the Refined Fool craft beer company, good food and unique shopping.

Bradley says getting that kind of validation, unsolicited from a travel writer at the national level, is very encouraging.

The other five destinations highlighted were Newfoundland, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Fredericton and Fernie British Columbia.
