Pair Of Sting Forwards On NHL Radar

A pair of Sarnia Sting forwards have been highlighted in NHL Central Scouting's midterm rankings for the 2017 NHL Entry draft.

Adam Ruzicka is the 27th ranked North American skater, while Ryan McGregor comes in at 79.

Ruzicka has 13 goals and 25 points in 38 games this season after the Sting selected him 107th overall in the CHL Import Draft. He scored a goal in five games with Slovakia at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

McGregor, a second round pick of the Sting in the 2015 draft, has 13 goals and 19 points in 40 games during his sophomore campaign. He tallied 11 goals and 24 points in 58 games as a rookie last season.

Two other Sting have made the list.

Nick Grima is ranked 208th among North American skaters, while Aidan Hughes is 28th among North American goalies.

Nolin Patrick of the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings remains in the top spot among North American Skates. Windsor's Gabriel Vilardi and Mississauga's Owen Tippett are the top OHLers on the list, they come in at three and four respectively.

The Sting had three players selected during last year's draft. Jakob Chychrun was taken 16th overall by the Arizona Coyotes. Jordan Kyrou went to St. Louis in the second round (35th overall) and Anthony Salinitri was scooped up by Philadelphia in the sixth round (172nd overall).

Evan Barrat, the son of Sting Assistant Coach Jeff Barrat, is ranked 55th among North American Skarers. The Flint Firebirds' prospect is committed to Penn State.

The 2017 NHL Entry draft will be June 23 and 24 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
