Owen Sound Streak Continues, Beats Sarnia 6-2

It was unlucky for the Sarnia Sting, who fell victim to the Owen Sound Attack Saturday night 6-2 at the Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

It was the 13th win in a row for the Attack, who now find themselves in third place in the OHL Midwest Division standings with 57 points, four behind the leading London Knights.  Sarnia is in third place in the West Division with 46 points.

Markus Phillips was responsible for the scoring in the first period, putting both goals in.  The first was on the power play at 11:44 in the period.  The teams would then return to even-strength but Phillips struck again 46 seconds after his first goal, sending the Attack to the locker room with a 2-0 first intermission lead.

Owen Sound continued its offensive attack in the second period, when Ethan Szypula made it a 3-0 game just 46 seconds in.  Other than Sarnia's Troy Lajeunesse getting his team on the board at 10:23 in the second, it was all Owen Sound.  Petrus Palmu and Cordell James each scored for the Attack for a comfortable 5-1 second intermission lead.

Drake Rymsha managed to get Sarnia another goal in the third period.  His 17th goal of the season came at 7:42.  Owen Sound would then seal the win with a goal from Maksim Sushko.

Michael McNiven had the win in goal for the Attack, stopping 29 Sarnia shots.  Justin Fazio had 30 saves for the Sting.

Owen Sound travels to Barrie next Saturday night while the Sting visits the Knights in London Wednesday.
