UPDATE: Freezing Rain Warning Ended

Motorists are being urged to be extra cautious after freezing rain spread across southwestern Ontario Thursday.

Environment Canada ended the warning for Sarnia-Lambton, Chatham-Kent and London-Middlesex at around 2pm but road surfaces remained slick with the temperature falling.

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says untreated roads will remain slippery through the course of the day. Drivers are advised to adjust to the conditions by slowing down and leaving extra room to stop.

Coulson says quieter weather is forecast for the weekend in advance of another mix of precipitation.

"Again with temperatures on the mild side, it's likely going to start off as a messy mix of rain and snow and then go over to rain again by late in the day on Monday," says Coulson.
