Police Advise Of Bank Scam

A Sarnia resident lost an undisclosed amount of money in a scam Tuesday.

Sarnia police say the victim received a phone call advising their bank account had been compromised.

The victim was told to withdraw a quantity of money and take it to a public location where it was handed over to the suspect.

Police say the suspect promised the victim the funds would be placed back into the account, but of course, that never happened.

The suspect is described as a white male, 50 to 60 years old, about 5' 8" tall with a husky build, and dark hair.

Anyone receiving a similar call should contact their bank to determine if it's legitimate.

Victims of scams should contact the Sarnia Police Service.

Suspected scam phone calls can be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-494-8501 or online at www.antifraudcentre.ca.
