Business Leaders Hopeful For A Brighter 2017

Business leaders across Canada are painting a bright picture for the country's economy in 2017.

In a poll conducted by Express Employment Professionals, 58% predict moderate growth and another 21% forecast exponential growth.

Express Marketing Director Garrett Hein says that bodes well after a tough 2016.

"Word on the street is there's going to be some shutdown work and hopefully some new expansion in the area," says Hein. "I know that we were hopeful in 2016 that would be the case but it didn't end up working out that way. The businesses we spoke to in 2016 are optimistic for 2017, especially when it comes to hiring."

Hein says the fourth quarter of 2016 showed promise, as 64% of those polled indicated the employment market was trending higher.

In a corresponding survey of job seekers, 27% expected a new job or promotion in 2017.
