Sting Pulls Off New Year's Trade

The Sarnia Sting will begin 2017 with a slightly different roster.

Sting general manager Nick Sinclair announced Saturday that they have traded high-scoring right winger Nikita Korostelev and defenceman Alex Black to the Peterborough Petes.  In return, the Sting receives 17-year-old defenceman Nick Grima plus six of the Petes' draft picks through 2020.

Sarnia will get Peterborough's second-round pick in 2017 (via Erie), their third round pick in 2017 (via Kitchener), and their sixth round pick in the 2017 draft.  The Sting also receives Peterborough's second  round pick in 2019 (via Sault Ste. Marie) and their third round pick that year, as well as their second round pick in 2020 (via Windsor).

“As an organization, we would like to thank Nikita and Alex for their time in Sarnia," said Sinclair in a press release.  "They have both been a big part of our team for the last few years and we wish them nothing but the best of luck with the Petes. At the same time, we’re happy to welcome Nick to the hockey club and look forward to him being a part of our team moving forward.”

Korostelev is second among Sarnia's top scorers with 17 goals for 35 points in 31 games this season.  Black has two goals and three assists in 36 games.  Grima has had 15 points in 28 games for Peterborough.
