Local Woman To Chair National Committee

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) has elected Kathy Alexander to chair the 2017 Convene Canada Committee.

The Executive Director of Bluewater Health's Foundation admits she was surprised at the opportunity, but is honoured and excited to represent the hospital and Canada.

"I've actually been a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy since 2011 when I joined Bluewater Health Foundation," said Alexander. "It's really an international group of people that work in healthcare and fundraising for healthcare."

Alexander says one of her main duties will be working to identify and develop educational content for the Canadian convention next April in Calgary.

"It's a great opportunity, not only for myself to bring awareness to the great work that we're doing here in Sarnia-Lambton, but a great way to bring recognition to the importance of healthcare philanthropy and the difference that it makes for so many hospitals across our country."

AHP is an international professional organization dedicated to developing the fundraisers who encourage charity for nonprofit hospitals and health care institutions.

The association's 5,000 members represent more than 2,200 health care organizations in North America and abroad, raising more than $10 billion each year for community health services.
