Snow Squall Warning For North And East Lambton

Environment Canada has now elevated its snow squall watch to a warning for north and east Lambton County.

Snow squalls are expected to begin late Thursday afternoon or evening as a cold front moves through and brisk west to northwest winds develop over Lake Huron.

Near zero visibility is expected in the vicinity of the cold front.

Meteorologists expect the snow squalls to intensify and may become localized Thursday evening as the colder air arrives and the northwesterly winds continue.

Latest indications suggest there is potential for strong snow squall bands with significant accumulation from Lake Huron into parts of Lambton, Huron and Middlesex counties.

Snowfall amounts of 10-15 cm (4-6 in) are expected by Friday morning in the regions with additional amounts of 10-20 cm (4-8 in) on Friday in the strongest snow squalls.

Environment Canada expects visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Road closures are possible.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
