Sarnia has not been impacted by the latest round of cutbacks at Enbridge Pipelines Inc.
The Calgary-based company announced last week that it's laying off 5 % of its workforce or about 370 positions in Canada and 160 in the U.S.
Company spokesman Ken Hall says Sarnia dodged a bullet.
"Enbridge is going through some reorganization due to a number of factors," says Hall. "One is market conditions that are affecting the gas and oil industry right now. We're quite fortunate right here that the company in its decision to reduce its workforce did not find it necessary to reduce any positions here in Sarnia."
There are about 70 Enbridge employees in Sarnia.
Hall adds, however, that it's his understanding that four people at the Enbridge storage compound in St. Clair Township will be affected by the cuts.
