Police Circulate Photo In Cabbie Assault

Sarnia police have released a photo of a suspect wanted in the robbery of a cab driver earlier this month.

Police say on September 11 at about 8:45am, a man was picked up by a cab near London Rd. and Fleming St., and after several stops, he demanded money from the 72-year-old driver on McGee St. When the driver told him he had no money, police say he was struck in the face and the microphone was ripped from the cab radio.

The suspect fled with only pocket change from a cup in the taxi.

The cabbie was not seriously hurt.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, about 5'7" tall, 150 lbs with collar length black hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Leo Murphy with the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau, at 519-344-8861 ext. 6142 or Crime Stoppers.
