Two local doctors have been recognized by their patients for exceptional care.
Of 35 nominations received a jury has selected Dr. Anthony Lena and Dr. Susan Mather as the recipients of this years Patients' Choice Awards.
"The Patients’ Choice Awards give us the opportunity to involve patients and families in recognizing physicians who they believe have provided them with exceptional care,” says Dr. Mike Haddad, chief of professional staff. “On behalf of Bluewater Health, congratulations to doctors Lena and Mather.”
Dr. Lena is an anaesthetist who has been practicing in Sarnia since 1994.
Dr. Mather has been working in Petrolia as a family physician since 1997.
Patients Canada Board Chair Michael Decter is pleased with the response to this years call for nominations.
“We’re thrilled that 35 patients and caregivers across Sarnia-Lambton took the time to nominate their physicians for a Patients’ Choice Award," says Decter. "The winning physicians, Dr. Lena and Dr. Mather, demonstrated through outstanding patient-centered care that they value their patients’ experiences and insight. This matters to patients.”
The Ontario Medical Association is also applauding the physicians.

The care they provide, along with that of the many other physicians and healthcare practitioners in the region, improves the lives of so many who live in Sarnia-Lambton.”
