Sarnia Man Charged In Head-On Collision On Mandaumin

A 25-year-old Sarnia man is charged with careless driving and using a hand-held device following a head-on crash in Plympton-Wyoming last month. A Pontiac Sunfire and a Dodge Caravan came into collision just after 5pm July 25 on Mandaumin Rd. north of London Line. It's alleged the driver of the car entered into the opposing lane and hit the van causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the Sunfire suffered severe injury and was transported to hospital. Injuries to both drivers, however, were not considered to be life threatening.

Lambton OPP say following the result of an extensive investigation, the driver of the Sunfire, Jeremy Large, was charged. Careless driving comes with a fine of $490 and six demerit points while using a hand-held device has a set fine of $490 and three demerit points. Lambton OPP say using a hand-held device isn't worth the risk.

Police urge all drivers to refrain from being distracted while operating a motor vehicle.
