Sarnia Man Faces 15 Charges Following Police Standoff

A 26-year-old Sarnia man faces 15 charges following a four hour police standoff on Roger St. Tuesday morning.

Sarnia police had blocked off Roger St. near High Park Public School around 7am following reports that a man, possibly armed with a long gun, had barricaded himself inside a home.

Constable John Sottosanti says concerned for the man's well-being, the Emergency Response Team entered the townhouse and located the suspect in the attic. He was arrested without incident.

Officers also seized a sawed-off rifle from the home.

Charges include possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, possession of cocaine and three counts of failing to comply with probation.

The suspects name will not be released to protect the identity of children involved in the matter.
