Government Invests In Craft Beer Industry

Sarnia's successful microbrewery is pleased to see that senior government is investing in the growing industry.

The Ontario Government and Government of Canada will contribute over $1.6-million in the projects of 20 craft breweries across Ontario to help them expand operations and to continue to grow the province's craft beer sector.

Refined Fool Brewing Company Co-Owner Nathan Colquhoun says it's great to see that their business is part of a larger group of businesses that the government views as valuable.

"As we look toward our expansion, that's coming up in the next year or so, that's definitely some of the funding and grants we are looking towards," says Colquhoun.

He says things are going very well.

The brewery, which opened in 2014, currently has about 15 employees.

Colquhoun says they hope to move into their new 11,000 square foot building at 153 Christina St. by the end of the summer.

Craft beer is a rapidly expanding industry in Ontario, employing more than 1,500 people and generating more than $69-million in sales last year at the LCBO.
