UPDATE: Injured Man Identified In 402 Crash

A Michigan man remains in critical condition in a London hospital after a fiery crash between a tractor trailer and two service vehicles on Hwy. 402.

The OPP say Thursday around 2pm, a transport truck was travelling east on the highway near Hickory Dr., when it struck the back of a stationary road maintenance truck. The impact forced the unoccupied truck forward into the rear of an unoccupied water truck, which was also stationary.

The transport caught fire as a result of the crash and it engulfed the cab and trailer.

The 58-year-old driver from Michigan, Rickey Lee Hall, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

The two workers suffered minor injuries, but were not taken to hospital.

As a result of the dense smoke in the area, Hwy. 402 was closed in both directions for several hours on Thursday.

The eastbound on-ramp at Hickory Dr. remains closed, as does the shoulder lane. The closures are expected to remain in effect until May 31.
