Library Amnesty Period Forgives Outstanding Fines

Lambton County Library is encouraging residents to return long overdue items, without the worry of having to pay a hefty fine. From May 2nd to the 15th, Lambton County Library is forgiving outstanding fines for all overdue items. Technical Services Manager Krystyna Stalmach is hoping many residents take advantage of the two week amnesty period. "We know that if patrons outstanding fines threshold is 15 or more, then their privileges are suspended. They can't really borrow more books," she says. "So by waiving these fines, we are hoping that a lot of our patrons will come back to the library." Stalmach says there is well over 1,000 overdue books, C.D's and DVD's missing from Sarnia-Lambton branches. Residents can return their overdue items to any of the 26 library branches.
