The Masterworks from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery exhibit at Sarnia's downtown art gallery generated $1.58-million in economic activity.
Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery Curator Lisa Daniels says over 21,000 visitors passed through their doors during the four and a half month run starting October 2015.
Visitors from Lambton County, Toronto, British Columbia, California and even as far as Australia, helped raise nearly $60,000 in donations from the event.
"Overall the response from the visitor was overwhelming," says Daniels.
"Everybody was positive, people were coming back over and over again, people were bringing and inviting friends and relatives from out of town to come into Sarnia to see the show."
Daniels says donations will be invested back into gallery operations to help keep events free and accessible to the community.
Looking forward, the JNAAG plans to host an exhibit from the Canadian War Museum called 'Witnesses' in the fall of 2018.
She encourages the public to visit the latest exhibition on now at the gallery, from local artist Gary Spearin.
