Health Study Participants Sought

Sarnia-Lambton residents are invited to take part in a long-term health research study and learn more about their health.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Ontario Health Study and Lambton Public Health, is aimed at those between 30 and 74 years old.

Program Manager Kelly McDonald says the goal is to investigate what causes various chronic diseases.

She says they have an ambitious four-day goal of 200 participants.

"We know that health and disease are complex," says McDonald. "A number of different things influence our health including the genes we inherit from our parents, our own behaviours including how much we eat, and how much sleep we get. Of course the environment has a huge effect on our health in terms of the communities that we live in, the air that we breathe and the water we drink."

Those interested in taking part in the study can visit www.ontariohealthstudy.ca/lambton to register and complete the online questionnaire.

Study hours are Monday, February 29 from noon until 9pm, March 1 and 2 from 9am until 9pm, and March 3 from 9am until 3pm.

All of the sessions take place at Lambton Public Health at 160 Exmouth St. in Pt. Edward.
