Ontario Provincial Police have been kept busy investigating motor vehicle collisions in snow squalls and bitterly cold conditions.
Middlesex County OPP reported at noon Saturday, that in the past 24 hours, they had responded to 60 reported collisions, including numerous crashes involving tractor trailers on Hwy. 402.
Police had to close the westbound lanes of Hwy. 402 due to a number of collisions and poor weather conditions late Friday night.
The OPP say the highway was closed between Centre Rd. and Kerwood Rd. around 11pm. It reopened around 2am but it was still slow going.
Police say the leading cause of multi-vehicle crashes and other collisions that occur during the winter months is poor driving, not poor driving conditions.
