Sting Add Scoring Punch

The Sarnia Sting, coming off a three game road trip during which they scored only three goals, have acquired overage forward Matt Mistele from the Oshawa Generals.

In return, the Generals receive Niagara's 2nd round pick in 2016, Sault Ste. Marie's 3rd round pick in 2017 and Sarnia's 3rd round pick in 2018.

Mistele, a left winger, is currently playing in his fifth OHL season. The LA Kings draft pick (6th RND 2014) was dealt to the Generals at the trade deadline last season by the Plymouth Whalers. Between the two clubs he recorded a career-high 64 points in 60 regular season games before going on to win the Memorial Cup with Oshawa.

The 6'2", 190 lb Whitby native has 16 points including 8 goals in 19 games with the Generals this year.

General Manager, Nick Sinclair says as an organization they're excited to welcome Matt and his family to the Sarnia Sting organization.

"We feel as though he will be a great addition to our club, bringing a wealth of experience to our dressing room," says Sinclair. "We’re adding a guy who’s played over 200 games in this league, won a Memorial Cup Championship, and is a proven 35+ goal scorer.”

Mistele will join the Sting this weekend for games at the SSEC Friday night against North Bay, in Flint, Michigan Saturday night and back in Sarnia Sunday afternoon for the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game against the Ottawa 67's.
